Kareem Elbayar is a graduate of the George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC, where he specialized in international law and the politics of the Arab world, earning a Master of Arts in International Affairs and a Juris Doctorate with honors. Kareem received his Bachelors Degree in International Relations from the University of California, San Diego, where he earned High Honors after submission of a thesis on the challenges of democracy promotion in Egypt.
Prior to joining ICNL, Kareem worked at the Office of the General Counsel for Asia and the Near East at the United States Agency for International Development, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, and at the World Bank Administrative Tribunal. His written work has been published in a variety of academic journals and popular media, and has been translated into Arabic, French, and Hebrew.
