David Robinson

David Robinson has a background in community development in London and Wellington. Since 1985 he has carried out research and policy analysis on civil society issues including social capital, deliberative dialogue and CSO law reform.
David is Director of the New Zealand Social and Civic Policy Institute which promotes the use of deliberation and sustained dialogue in dealing with controversial issues.
As Project Manager of ICNL's Pacific Civil Society Law Programme he has been involved in reviewing laws and legislation affecting civil society organisations and consulting with community groups and governments in Fiji, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.
His voluntary work includes serving on the boards of ANGOA (the New Zealand association of NGOs) and Mahora Trust (providing supportive housing for mental health consumers) as well as convening the Wellington Mental Health Research Group which brings consumers together with academics and clinicians. David is a former Board member of CIVICUS and serves on the Advisory Council of ICNL.
