Jeff Thindwa

Jeff Thindwa is a Senior Social Development Specialist in the World Bank’s South Asia Region based in Washington DC. He joined the Bank in 2000 following an 18-year NGO career. Prior to that he was a legal aid attorney in the Malawi government and a lawyer in a law firm.
In the Bank he has worked as a Senior Civil Society Specialist, providing institutional guidance on the Bank’s engagement with civil society organizations at the operational and corporate levels, and he also coordinated the Bank’s Participation and Civic Engagement Unit. The focus of his work is promoting social accountability to improve governance in the Bank’s client countries - through both operational and analytical work. This includes institutional capacity building, and helping governments to create enabling conditions for these efforts.
Jeff studied law and political economy in Malawi and London.
