12-21-2007: Council Created to Support NGOs in Azerbaijan
In July 2007 the President of Azerbaijan issued a Decree confirming state support for civil society. After official declaration, the President’s administration had four months to present recommendations on establishing a formal foundation dedicated to assisting non-governmental organizations (NGOs). On December 13th, the President of Azerbaijan moved forward with the initiative, endorsing both a foundation: the Council of State Support of NGOs, and regulations to guide and fund the Council.
