ICNL Hires New Program Director for Central Asian Office

The International Center for Not-for-Profit Law is pleased to announce that Alexander Nisengolts has joined us as our new Acting Program Director for Central Asia based in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Working with ICNL staff in Almaty and Washington, Mr. Nisengolts will help coordinate ICNL’s Central Asian Program, which covers Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan. The program focuses on legislative assistance, capacity building, implementation assistance, and regional initiatives to improve the legal and fiscal framework affecting civil society in the region..

Mr. Nisengolts received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University and Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois College of Law. Mr. Nisengolts served as a legal advisor to Kazakhstan’s State Committee on Pricing and Anti-Monopoly Policy, a USAID-sponsored project, and subsequently worked as a manager at KPMG-Janat providing legal and business advice to multinational clients. Most recently, Mr. Nisengolts maintained a private practice in suburban Chicago where he advised clients on business and immigration matters.
