Draft Laws Registered in the Majilis Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan

30 April 2005

In April 2005 two draft laws have been registered in the Majilis Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan:

Draft Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the activities of branches and representative offices (separate subdivisions) of international or foreign non-commercial organizations in the Republic of Kazakhstan”

Draft law of Republic of Kazakhstan, “On Introduction of Amendments and Additions into Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Matters Related to Non-commercial Organizations”.

If enacted, these laws would impose severe restrictions on activities of both foreign and local non-commercial organizations in Kazakhstan. ICNL is working on analysis and recommendations to these draft laws. The draft laws in English and Russian can be found in ICNL’s online library.
