Release of 15 country reports on NGO law

11 April 2011

ICNL and the World Movement for Democracy are pleased to announce the release of a new series of 15 country reports as part of the Defending Civil Society project. These are in addition to nine country reports published in 2008. These reports, prepared by local partners and legal experts, analyze the legal environment under which civil society operates in five specific countries in each of three regions: Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

ICNL and World Movement hope that these reports serve as a resource for civil society organizations, policymakers, and advocates dedicated to enabling legal frameworks for civil society. We recognize that there are many other organizations conducting research and supporting projects to help strengthen the environment for civil society. These reports are meant to be complementary to the existing work on this topic.

ICNL and World Movement would like to thank Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade for its generous support of this project, as well as the report authors for their invaluable insight and research of their respective countries.
