In July 2021, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association released a report that discusses the key threats and challenges facing climate defenders globally. The report highlights civil society’s critical role in advancing climate action and ensuring a just transition to a greener and more sustainable future.
