Doaa Far is a Senior Legal Advisor with ICNL, working to advance freedoms of association and assembly and to improve the legal environment that affects civil society in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
Prior to joining ICNL, Ms. Far worked as a Legal Associate at Husseini & Husseini Law Firm in Palestine, where she conducted legal research; prepared briefs and memos; and drafted and edited opinions, contracts, and agreements pertaining to different practice areas; including corporate law, financial law, tax law, and labor law. Ms. Far also served as an external legal consultant for ICNL for more than two years, during which she prepared training materials relating to the Palestinian legal framework and international best practices concerning good governance in Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) as well as CSO funding in Palestine. Ms. Far also drafted a study on the compliance of Tunisian laws with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) international standards on combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism and proliferation. Ms. Far’s consultancy work with ICNL was preceded by working for nearly five years as a full-time Legal Advisor with ICNL’s MENA office. Her work responsibilities included, among others, assisting in conducting legal and policy research; providing legal analysis on laws affecting CSOs; monitoring the development of legislation relating to the civic sector; and undertaking the development and implementation of training programs for CSOs, lawyers, human rights activists, civil society leaders, parliamentarians, and government officials on issues affecting freedoms of association and assembly or relating to public participation.
Ms. Far is a graduate of the University College London (Master of Laws (LL.M) and the University of Jordan (B.A. in Law). She is a member of the Bar Association of Jordanian Lawyers. She has a working fluency in both Arabic and English.
