Letter to IRS to investigate and revoke tax exempt status for several non-profit organizations

Letter to the IRS Commissioner from Chairman Jason Smith asking the Commissioner to investigate and revoke the tax exempt status for Americans for Justice in Palestine Educational Foundation, American Muslims for Palestine, Alliance for Global Justice, Islamic Relief, Jewish Voices for Peace, the People’s Forum, the Tides Foundation, United Hands Relief, and Westchester Peace Action Committee Foundation. To justify this request, the letters point to a number of provisions of the law, including that acts of civil disobedience to do not qualify for tax exemption, that violations of the law that are an “antithesis of the public good” may bar tax exemption, and that organizations that are designated as terrorist organizations cannot maintain tax-exempt status.
