A Comparative Analysis of European Practices of NGO-Government Cooperation
PUBLISHED: MARCH 13, 2004
This paper by the European Center for Not-for-Profit Law offers a European perspective on policies and practices regarding NGO-Government cooperation in EU member states and other Central and Eastern European countries.
The report is structured in four main chapters, dealing with (i) institutional frameworks, (ii) financing, (iii) overall policy framework of cooperation and (iv) EU accession. It looks at best practices as well as learning points from failures; innovative solutions as well as common practices; and aims to include more information rather than less in order to facilitate “cherry-picking” within a certain subject area.
It was prepared to provide the background of a European perspective to the project Development of Civil Society in Latvia – Elaboration of Civil Society Development Strategy For Latvia (Ref. EuropeAid/115919/D/SV/LV).
