Good Practices in the European Union and Western Balkans

This paper, developed by the European Center for Not-for-Profit Law, examines state financing of NGOs as practiced in the Western Balkans and EU member states. It looks at funding mechanisms in Croatia, England, Estonia, Hungary, and FYR Macedonia, with a focus on the following elements:

  • overall framework for cooperation between the government and CSOs;
  • institutions and mechanisms channelling public funding to CSOs;
  • and the legal and regulatory framework of public funding procedures.
