ICNL is pleased to report that the Governing Council of the Community of Democracies unanimously selected Maria Leissner (Sweden’s Ambassador-at-Large for Democracy) to be the first Secretary-General of the Community of Democracies. Ambassador Leissner is a global leader on issues of democracy, human rights, and civil society.
