Freedom of Association upheld in court: No convictions for U.S. Muslim charity

On Monday, October 22 the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development’s trial concluded with no convictions. The jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict in the case against the foundation and its directors, even acquitting defendant Mohammad el-Mezain, the former chairman, on all but one charge. The foundation faced 197 criminal violations related to funding terrorism.
