UN Report on the Realization of the Right to Freedom of Opinion and Expression in Electoral Contexts

This July 2014 report of the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, Frank La Rue,  describes the international legal framework protecting the freedom of expression in electoral contexts, highlighting specific concerns such as direct attacks on journalists, activists, and political candidates and groups during elections, state interference in media content, and the need for pluralism in media.
