Forum on Not-for-Profit Law in Honduras

On Wednesday and Thursday, March 22nd and 23rd, ICNL and our local partner in Honduras, FOPRIDEH, co-hosted Honduras’ first-ever Forum on Not-for-Profit Law.
In all, over 175 civil society, government, private sector, and university representatives attended the event. On the first day of the forum, experts from Chile (Felipe Viveros), Costa Rica (Tanya Lockwood), El Salvador (Victor Hugo Mata), and Venezuela (Antonio Itriago) participated in a question and answer plenary sessions that enabled them to provide an introduction to key issues including the role of CSOs in their respective countries and the legal framework governing their activities.
Participants also received an update on the content and status of the Honduran NGO law and attended break out sessions on four separate topics: Taxation; Transparency and Accountability; Improving NGO/Government Relations; and Advocacy.
On the second day of the forum, over 80 university representatives and law students heard from the same regional experts mentioned above. They provided a substantive introduction to key civil society law themes. ICNL provided information on models and materials used in its Educational Initiative to teach civil society law.
