About this Module

ICNL’s educational module on the freedom of association aims to support people to protect and promote the right in their communities. The module covers the freedom of association in six units that equip people to analyze a law, policy, or decision against relevant international standards and advocate for reforms to better protect the right. This module is for civil society and decision-makers looking to learn about how the freedom of association affects their community and how to protect the right. Take our quiz at the end and receive a certificate of completion.

To meet differing needs and interest, each unit of the module will have three learning options: short, medium, and longer materials. The short materials help people understand how civic space relates to their work but not necessarily develop expertise in a topic; these can be read in 1 to 5 minutes. The medium materials provide more details about the topic so that people can begin incorporating civic space concerns into their work; these can be read in about 5 to 10 minutes. The longer product provides the most detailed explanations about the topic so that people can incorporate civic space concerns into their work at an even deeper level.
