General Comments are an important standard setting instrument and a powerful advocacy tool for the rights enshrined in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. In June 2019, the Committee issued a first draft General Comment No. 37, which deals with Article 21 of the ICCPR (the right to freedom of peaceful assembly).
