Public Participation in the Middle East and North Africa

In September of 2020, ICNL LLC’s Jordan team held a webinar called “Challenges and Prospects of the Role of Civil Society in Shaping Public Policy in MENA.” The session included a presentation on public participation’s main concepts and tools, and included speakers from ICNL and partners from Morocco, Jordan, and Lebanon to discuss positive examples and the importance of civil society in shaping public policy.

Restricting Tear Gas, Rubber Bullets, and Other Less Lethal Weapons

In response to nationwide protests sparked by the killing of George Floyd in May 2020, law enforcement has used tear gas or rubber bullets in over 100 U.S. cities. The use of these and other “less lethal weapons” (LLWs) for crowd control has been heavily criticized.
