This project is part of the Aqaba Development Triangle Project that aims to strengthen opportunities for cooperation and partnership between the private sector and civil society organizations. It seeks to move beyond traditional forms of support and corporate social responsibility toward strategic partnerships built on shared value and sustainable impact.
The importance of the project lies in enhancing the private sector’s understanding of the value of supporting civil society organizations and their role in reaching local communities, understanding their needs, and providing field-based expertise and flexibility in implementing initiatives. In turn, building more strategic partnerships enables civil society organizations to benefit more broadly from the private sector’s resources, expertise, management capabilities, and networks. This creates opportunities to move beyond short-term financial support toward long-term collaboration based on shared objectives.
The project also contributes to strengthening civil society organizations’ capacity to build more sustainable relationships with the private sector by raising awareness of legal and financial requirements, due diligence mechanisms, risk management, compliance, and the development of clear and balanced agreements. These efforts help build trust between both parties, reduce risks that may hinder partnerships, and create a more enabling environment for implementing community initiatives with long-term impact.
Ultimately, the project’s impact extends beyond developing participants’ skills. It contributes to supporting civil society’s transition from reliance on traditional forms of support toward more sustainable institutional partnerships that leverage the respective strengths of the private sector and civil society organizations to achieve tangible results for local communities.
